1. A challenging job
Research shows that having complicated jobs and carrying out difficult tasks contribute to employees’ happiness as long as the activities are doable. What’s more, having busy work days means times goes by much faster and you will not drift away from your activities.
2. The feeling of getting better at what you do
Happiness can be found in work accomplishment. Indeed, seeing how your work helps meet the company’s objectives brings a very positive feeling: your work matters to the company.
3. No fear
Research has proven that employees become less engaged and motivated when their jobs are on the line. People who are not performing as they should need to be moved out: by being afraid of disappointing a big client rather than being afraid of losing their job.
4. A sense of control over your job
Studies show that the level of autonomy you have at work has a greater influence on happiness than money. Employees with flexible working hours for example report better well-being than employees who have strict working hours.
5. A strong sense of belonging
Find a “best friend” at work! Having friendly relationships with your coworkers will make you become more productive and appreciate the time you spend at work.
