It’s the most wonderful time of the year! For some of us the Christmas season is about festive food and presents. For companies however, it can be the busiest time of the year. What if a Christmas job be the start of something bigger?
The top five busiest companies hire over 60,000 extra workers to help. Royal Mail for example hires over 20,000 employees around Christmas every year. Various job positions are sent out from October throughout the festive season: event planning, present wrappings… Companies such as Next, Primark, Argos, Currys PC, T.H Baker are looking for candidates to fill a wide range of Christmas roles including Father Christmas! It is important for companies to have enough staff to fill vital roles over the entire winter season.
Amazon will employ 19 000 extra people for seasonal jobs across the UK to answer the demand of customers. The job offers will mainly cover customer service positions. Argos is looking to fill 9 000 seasonal positions both in stores and as drivers. The seasonal contracts can turn into full-time jobs in January if the role is successfully filled! Finally Currys and PC World both offer full training and 2 400 Christmas jobs are available throughout the UK from November to January.
When you apply for a seasonal job, it is important to highlight any experience you have at managing multiple tasks and working through busy periods. If you don’t have significant experience, finding a position over Christmas can be a great way for addressing the problem.
