Mortuary assistant job description

A Mortuary Assistant, also known as Mortuary Technician, is a key role within the healthcare and funeral service sectors. This role involves assisting Pathologists during post-mortem examinations, handling and preparing bodies for viewing and burial, keeping detailed records, and maintaining cleanliness in the mortuary department. It is a role requiring a high degree of ethics, professionalism and respect for the deceased and their families. Although it can be challenging due to the sensitive nature of the work, it can also be rewarding for those who have a keen interest in anatomy, pathology and providing care and service at a critical time.
