Ambulance call handler job description

An Ambulance Call Handler, sometimes referred to as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, plays a vital role in the healthcare system. They are the first point of contact for individuals requiring immediate medical assistance. Their responsibilities include receiving emergency calls, accurately recording critical information, determining the level of response required, and dispatching ambulance resources efficiently. They must remain calm under pressure and provide reassurance and potentially life-saving instructions to callers while help is on its way. This role demands strong communication skills, quick decision-making ability, and emotional resilience. Experience in customer service or a healthcare setting could be advantageous, but specific training is provided.
