About the role
We are looking for a confident and articulate individual with some experience in training, projects, or operations to join the Distribution transport team as a Transport Training Manager!
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the development and delivery of high-quality training programs for teams working in our Distribution Centres. You will be instrumental in ensuring our drivers, transport managers, and other operational colleagues are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel their roles and give phenomenal service to our stores.
Please be aware, the successful candidate will be expected to work remotely which will include travel for working from Tesco Distribution Centres and offices as required.
You will be responsible for
* Responsible for the legal mandated driver CPC training for all Tesco employed HGV drivers.
* Review of Tesco’s DVSA training accreditation, DCPC training courses, DVSA audit, CPC lesson plans and accredited trainers’ profiles.
* Leading all aspects of our various HGV driver development programs to ensure that attrition in our driver population is mitigated by the continual development of new HGV drivers.
* Ensuring development candidates are supported on their journey to becoming skilled and proficient professionals.
* Ensuring the quality of the training delivered by our population of driver trainers.
* Providing training and ongoing professional development plans for a population of around five thousand drivers, 140 transport clerks, and 170 managers.
* Ensuring that all transport training aligns with the requirements of the Operator Licensing regime and industry standard processes.
* Identifying and implementing innovative training methods and technologies to improve the learning experience of the transport team.
* Evaluating the efficiency of training programs and adjust them based on feedback and performance metrics.
* Staying up to date with changes in regulations, industry trends, standard processes, and emerging trends in order to incorporate them into training content.
* Collaborating with internal partners to identify training needs and priorities.
* Building a network of external contacts in the transport skills and training sector.
* Reviewing training finance to control expenditure and cross charges from DCs.
You will need
* Experience in training or project management (preferably within the transport industry).
* Extensive knowledge of the operator licensing regime and other transport regulatory requirements (preferred but not crucial).
* Proficient in data management to supervise training progress and provide insight into effectiveness of training.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple training programs and schedules simultaneously.
* A creative and innovative approach to developing training methods and materials.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and encourage a diverse range of learners and their line managers.
* High degree of competence with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
* A dedication to continuous improvement and professional development.
