Purpose of the role
This role sits within the Data Warehouse team. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the SQL Data Warehouse, which holds key loan by loan data from the core servicing platforms for the entire range of the Bank’s loan and savings portfolios. This data is updated on a daily basis and the warehouse is designed to facilitate analysis and fulfil all the Bank’s reporting and Business Intelligence requirements.
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting ETL processes, monitoring performance, building efficiencies and producing ‘proof of concept’ reports.
Duties and responsibilities
* Design and develop automated solutions to assist the business in its operation, utilising the Microsoft SQL Server suite of products.
* Utilise the groups available software suite to reduce/remove manual processes for example automation of data acquisition tasks via Microsoft Power suite (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Query).
* Use data engineering skills to transform and prepare data for use in analytical and visualisation models.
* Fully document and maintain working procedures of ETL processes.
* Support wider team Projects which impact the Data Warehouse environments.
* Develop and maintain Data Quality checks and processes.
* Investigate and remediate issues arising in the overnight processes.
* Analysing trends in the performance and behaviour of the Group’s loan assets based upon historical data.
* Ongoing reconciliation and validation of account data.
* Producing analysis and insight to understand performance over time.
* Working in adherence to the Data Governance Framework.
* Develop a good understanding of the Bank’s core IT servicing platforms and loan portfolios, with the longer-term aim of rebuilding the Data Warehouse to incorporate advanced data modelling techniques.
* Responsibility for testing new SQL code to ensure correct results are achieved before being incorporated into the ‘Live’ warehouse.
* Applying GDPR standards to data.
* Coaching junior team members.

Qualifications and experience
Strong SQL background with experience of T-SQL & SSIS is required, as well as experience of designing and developing data warehouse solutions and analysing and reporting on large/complex datasets.
A numeric or technical based degree (STEM or Computer Science) would be desirable. The ideal candidate would also have experience within the Financial Services Industry and using a database source control solution.

Working hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch) - hybrid role.
