Role responsibilities
We’re looking for an experienced chef who’s passionate about food and showcasing Welsh cuisine. This role will oversee the consistent delivery of a high-quality food offer ranging from Premier Restaurant at Seat Service to Food Bars.
Based out of our newly built prep kitchen at Newport station, you will be responsible for the kitchen operations across Transport for Wales Premier Service Catering Operation, ensuring your team are competent and facilities are maintained to provide a safe and efficient catering operation.
Duties will include:
1. Maintain Food Safety Standards systems by liaising with governing bodies as necessary
2. Support recruitment, manage and train the team of chefs to ensure high standards of food safety, product quality and customer experience are delivered
3. Design and create on-board menus on a rolling quarterly basis while keeping the Welsh identity at its heart
4. Account for stock and purchases in line with budgetary constraints and targets while sourcing opportunities to grow sales and margins
5. Acting as “On call manager” on a rota basis
Who we’re looking for
6. Previous experience of working as a chef in a commercial environment showing sound understanding of quality and cost management
7. Experience of leading, training and coaching a team
8. HACCP knowledge
9. Extensive knowledge of working in a customer focused environment
10. Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
