Post Holder Requirements:
The post holder is required to hold an up-to-date BOA casting certificate and have experience and competence in applying a wide range of casts, including gypsona, lightweight synthetic, and soft casts. They must be able to use a plaster saw for safe cast removal, apply braces and splints, and work closely with consultants and the team.
You will be required to attend theatres and the wards to apply and remove casts as needed.
Main Duties of the Job:
* Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities.
* Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills within the department.
* Work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best practices.
* Work within their own limitations and competencies.
* Maintain plaster room safety, including saws and equipment.
* Facilitate and chaperone in clinics as required.
* Attend theatres and wards to apply and remove casts as needed.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities:
We are a busy, forward-thinking outpatients department caring for patients aged from 0-100+ with a wide range of orthopaedic conditions and fractures requiring specialist bracing and casting.
The post-holder is responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. After an agreed period of time, the post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre- and post-registration students.
The post holder will be required to work in all areas as needed to meet the service's requirements. The post holder must hold an up-to-date BOA casting certificate.
Flexible working will be required to meet the needs of the service; evening and weekend work may be required in the future.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* BOA certificate holder.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Experience:
* Experience in an outpatient setting or similar.
* Experience of outpatient clinic procedures and multiple conditions.
Skills:
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workloads.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
