We are now recruiting for a Data Engineer to join our team and take responsibility of data handling and analysis of test rigs’ measurements and, more urgently, of the production End-of-Line (EoL) testing. This role will be based from our site in Loanhead, Edinburgh (EH20 9TB). Job Responsibilities As our new Data Engineer, your key tasks and responsibilities will be the following: Develop, test, and maintain the architecture set in place for data gathering Develop, test, and maintain the uploading of the data to the SQL database Conduct statistical analysis of test data to improve pass/fail criteria, improve test coverage and ensure consistent output for our Digital Displacement Pump customers Conduct data analysis for mid-life inspection Improve on data reporting Extend database to new product designs Extend database to other company needs Additional area of responsibility, if the chosen candidate has experience and interest, will be to develop comprehensive test rig specification documentation in order develop longer-term / higher-throughput production test rig designs, and to manage the complete design, sourcing, build, installation, and commission process. Background & Skills For you to be successful in this position, you are well-versed in the domain of database architectures, data gathering, validation and formatting, as well as data analysis. You hold an appropriate STEM degree combined with couple of years of relevant experience. While also, although less importantly, showing some interests in control theory and automation. Furthermore, key skills and attributes will be the following: Strong coding skills: Experience in MATLAB and/or Python, basic knowledge in C#, PowerShell, VBA would be a plus Experience with databases: Maintain and develop an SQL database. Strong analytical mind: Carry out statistical analysis of EoL test data. Fine tune test protocols to capture specific potential failures. Version control: Familiar with SVN/Git Data acquisition: Experience with data acquisition systems (DEWEsoft, NI/LabVIEW, PLC, …). Some knowledge of CAN communication (J1939, CAN Open, …) Instrumentation: Some experience with sensors (pressure, torque, temperature, …), good understanding of measurement accuracy and calibration processes Control Theory: Experience tuning PID control loops and familiar with basics of control theory On a more personal level, you have hands on attitude, and you are organised in your work. You can work independently but still understand and appreciate the close collaboration with a team. Your communication skills are good, and you feel comfortable on presenting findings and improvements to the team and other internal stakeholders.
