Pastry Chef - Special Dietary Needs Focus

We specialize in creating delicious and safe meals for individuals with special dietary needs, including diabetes, supplying residential homes and operating a small, vibrant café on a business estate. About the Role:
As our Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for all aspects of pastry production, from menu development and recipe adaptation to baking, decorating, and ensuring consistent quality. You will work closely with the team to understand the dietary requirements of our residential home clients and create appealing and delicious treats for our café customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and adapt pastry recipes to meet specific dietary needs, including sugar-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free options.
• Create a diverse and enticing menu for both residential homes and the café, considering both dietary restrictions and general customer preferences.
• Bake and decorate a wide range of pastries, including cakes, cookies, muffins, tarts, and other treats.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, adhering to all relevant regulations.
• Manage inventory and ensure efficient use of resources.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operation of both the residential home supply and the café.
• Stay up-to-date with current trends in pastry and dietary needs.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, with a strong understanding of classic pastry techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt recipes for special dietary requirements, particularly for individuals with diabetes.
• Knowledge of alternative flours, sweeteners, and other ingredients used in dietary-specific baking.
• Excellent baking and decorating skills.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creativity and passion for pastry.
• Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience working in a similar environment (e.g., catering to dietary needs, supplying residential homes).
• Experience in a café setting.
• Formal qualifications in pastry or culinary arts.
