We at Chefs Bay are currently on the search for a Sous Chef for a client of ours based in Bradford.
This role is set to begin on Monday 25th November with a finish date of Friday 31st January, with some potential to be extended. As the position is within a school, and you will be working in proximity to individuals under 18, an enhanced DBS check is required. If you do not currently hold one, you must be willing to obtain it.
Pay: £18.00ph + holiday pay + £20.17ph
Contract: Monday 25th November - Friday 31st February
Shift patterns: 5 days per week Monday-Friday, Full-Time
Requirement: You must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
**There is no accommodation available so you must be able to commute daily**
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Cook food for service in a high-volume kitchen using fresh ingredients.
2. Organise and prep ahead for future services.
3. Supervise junior staff to ensure quality and correct portions.
4. Collaborate with head/sous chef on daily orders.
5. Maintain full knowledge of menu items, recipes, and presentation standards.
6. Ensure personal hygiene, safety, and proper equipment use.
7. Meet deadlines and help others achieve standards.
8. Monitor food expiry dates and storage.
9. Support stock management and monthly stock takes.
10. Manage junior chefs and kitchen assistants when sous chef is absent.
11. Batch cook to reduce waste and ensure proper food labelling.
12. Implement first-in, first-out food rotation and quality checks.
13. Clean section, fridges, and kitchen areas regularly.
14. Consult with head/sous chef on daily requirements and events.
15. Set an example in hygiene and cleanliness.
16. Be flexible and proactive in assisting where needed.
17. Maintain kitchen hygiene, completing HACCP and COSHH monitoring.
18. Promote healthy eating and offer educational advice to customers.
