Our Partnerships team works towards creating engaging experiences that strengthen the BBC Brand and provide compelling journeys into the BBC ecosystem, delivering great value for all. We collaborate closely with all UK platforms and major global TV device partners to ensure that our audiences have a high-quality product experience available on the widest range of certified TV devices. Our department, based in Dock House at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester, is composed of Software Engineers, Testers, Product, UX, and Delivery disciplines working in close collaboration.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This position requires a self-motivated individual who can own responsibilities including functional testing, test design, implementation of test plans and test cases, risk analysis, and integration testing across various applications and services. Our services have the largest reach of any broadcast interactive service in the UK. Join us in creating new experiences that will help define the future of IPTV.
Skills and Experience
* Excellent domain testing skills with a proven strong background in working with various broadcast systems such as DTT, DSat, DCable.
* Experience of testing MHEG / HbbTV interactive TV applications and the specific factors associated with their development, test, and release.
* Experience of testing applications on devices including TV, STB, Game Console, tablet, and mobile using responsive designs and techniques.
* Extensive knowledge of the TV device development & production lifecycle and how this affects manufacturers, platforms, and content providers.
* Proven experience initiating and maintaining effective communication at all levels with external organisations across the TV domain.
* Proven testing skills developed through experience.
* Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and ways of working.
* Practical experience with source control tools e.g. Github, SVN.
* Experience of working and influencing agile processes across disciplines (Scrum, Kanban, V-Model).
* Experience influencing across teams to adopt/improve tools.
* Experience in developing Test Plans, Test Scripts, Defining Test Data, and Reports.
* Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and innovate.
* Ability to anticipate problems and tackle them with a pragmatic approach.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
* Working knowledge of product/defect/test case management systems.
Desirable Skills
* Advocate of Agile, Kanban, and Lean development practices including TDD and BDD, with hands-on experience.
* Up-to-date knowledge of test engineering trends and emerging technologies.
* An understanding of the UK market landscape for digital TV and IPTV products.
