Our client is a modern hotel situated near the vibrant Gateshead Quay area and within easy walking distance of Newcastle city centre and all public transport links.
This property offers diners a relaxed dining experience in the hotel’s restaurant and lounge areas. The restaurant serves a range of English classics using fresh ingredients, as well as some international staples too, such as pizzas and curry.
C&B is minimal here but there are facilities available to cater for functions of up to 20 people.
The kitchen team here all work a 4 day working week, offering that all important work/life balance!
Please note: accommodation is not available with this role, therefore candidates should only apply if they are able to commute to the area daily.
What’s involved?
As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef, running the kitchen in their absence, supervising a team of 3 chefs and assisting with the implementation of new menus.
It’s fast-paced here so you should be used to working in a similar environment as although you’ll have all day to prepare food to the required company standard for the evening service, there is only a small service window of 1-2 hours, and you can expect to cater for up to 50 covers during this time.
You’ll find the hotel at its busiest during weekdays however during quieter periods, you may find yourself working alone with a KP meaning you will need to be flexible because you may find yourself working different shifts, when needed.
This could be the perfect opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career to their first Sous Chef role, as there will be training and development opportunities.
Please note: accommodation is not available with this role, therefore candidates should only apply if they are able to commute to the area daily.
