Birmingham’s Grand Hotel on Colmore Row is housed in one of the city’s most iconic buildings. This landmark Grade II* listed building has been brought back to life combining beautifully restored classic and original Victorian features with modern service and style that compliments a vibrant and diverse Birmingham in the 21st century.
The Grand Hotel features 185 bedrooms and extraordinary suites, a glamorous cocktail bar, a buzzing New York style restaurant, and eight magnificent meeting and event rooms - as well as the spectacular, Louis XIV-style Grand Ballroom.
The kitchens at the Grand Hotel are a hive of chefs using their culinary flair to create appetising dishes for all our guests. As Senior Sous Chef- Banqueting you will be a key team player in the kitchen, helping to ensure the effective running of the department - providing service to our incredible Grand Ballroom and 8 Conference & Events Meeting rooms.
What you will do
* Oversee the planning, organising and control of day-to-day operations of the department thereby ensuring the established standards of performance are maintained and total customer satisfaction is achieved.
* Work alongside our Head Chef to develop menus and embody the spirit of our banqueting facilities.
* Take responsibility for implementing and continually reviewing the effectiveness of all food hygiene practices and procedures to ensure compliance.
* Assist the Head Chef to oversee the training of new staff as well as ongoing training for existing staff, appraise staff on a regular basis and set measurable objectives.
* Motivate the team by leading from the front with confidence; being dynamic and positive at all times.
* Remain totally customer focused by consistently delivering excellent customer service with an informed, friendly and effective approach.
Minimum Requirements
* Previous Senior Sous Chef experience in a similar environment is essential.
* Previous experience within a busy Banqueting Kitchen.
* Strong business acumen, or a desire to be taught this.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to self-motivate.
* Fully flexible in their approach to work and able to work shift patterns through weekdays and weekends.
