Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and skilled Sous Chef to join our friendly team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen staff to prepare fresh and high-quality meals, ensure food safety standards are met, and help maintain an efficient and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and food production.
2. Ensure every dish cooked has an allergen contents matrix filled in.
3. Assist in creating new menus and suggest innovative dishes.
4. Deliver consistent quality food service.
5. Prepare and cook food according to daily and weekly menus, maintain high quality standards, and portion control guidelines.
6. Ensure all regulatory temperature checks are recorded (Food alert system) in liaison with Head Chef. Adhere to all food safety regulations.
7. Ensure stock levels are kept to adequate quantity and carry out monthly stock take.
8. Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning optimally.
9. Maintain a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar hospitality role.
2. Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen techniques, and food safety standards.
3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and Front of house team.
5. Flexible and able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
The successful candidate will:
1. Have a passion for culinary food and creativity in the kitchen.
2. Assist Head Chef in ensuring all food production meets the high standards required by the business.
3. Assist Head Chef in timely production of breakfast, hot lunches, salad bar, cakes etc., for the Blue Café Bar and delegates.
4. Hold NVQ3 or City & Guilds 2/3 Catering qualification.
5. Food Safety certification and knowledge of health & safety regulations.

Schedule:
1. Monday to Friday.
This role is predominantly Monday to Friday; however, there will be requirements to work occasional evenings and weekends (depending on corporate bookings), therefore a degree of flexibility will be required during these periods.
