Working within the Firm's central Data Engineering team in IT, this newly created position will directly contribute to the development of the Firmwide BI and Data Platform, currently comprising a SQL Server 2022 Data Warehouse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Semantic Models and an SSRS/Power BI reporting layer. The Data Warehouse services c.500 reports, which are used across the Firm for reporting, analysis and decision support.
The role-holder will be confident working with the full Microsoft BI technology stack and will have strong T-SQL skills to support existing BI databases and models that underpin AG's management information systems. The ideal candidate will also be confident liaising with end users for gathering requirements and for responding to ad-hoc queries. Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as Azure SQL PaaS, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps/Power Automate and the ability to make REST API requests would be beneficial.
What You'll Do:
1. Creating/altering database objects (tables, views, stored procedures) in the SQL Data Warehouse via SSMS
2. Development of SSIS packages / Data Factory pipelines for loading source system data into the Data Warehouse
3. Development of the SSRS / Power BI Paginated reporting solutions
4. Development of Power BI / Analysis Services data models, which act as a semantic layer for the front-end reporting tools
5. Debugging and fixing failed SQL Server Agent Jobs and relating to Data Warehouse / model loading
6. Writing T-SQL queries for ad-hoc interrogation of the Data Warehouse / Data Marts / source system databases
Who We're Looking For:
1. 3+ years' time served in BI developer/data engineering role (Essential)
2. Hands-on development experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence solutions and tools (Essential)
3. Sound understanding of data warehousing and experience of building/maintaining ETL/ELT processes (Essential)
4. T-SQL: able to construct efficient set-based queries with knowledge of all the main DDL/DML functions (Essential)
5. SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio 2019 onwards and Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Onwards (Essential)
6. SSRS / Power BI Paginated: able to build, maintain and debug complex reports with knowledge of drill through and data-driven subscriptions (Essential)
