There is an exciting opportunity available to lead our very busy kitchen team. We are keen to see applications from chefs with proven experience running a kitchen. A chef in a golf club can have a very varied day starting with very early breakfast orders, moving on to a busy lunchtime, while managing a function going on in the next room, providing meals for a buffet. This role will suit someone who enjoys all areas of cooking and is flexible and able to handle a high work load at peak times.
Duties
1. Supervise and manage kitchen staff, fostering an efficient work environment.
2. Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality of dishes.
3. Develop and design innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
4. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment.
5. Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and efficient cooking methods.
6. Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and manage inventory effectively.
7. Monitor kitchen performance, making adjustments as necessary to improve efficiency and quality.
8. Handle any customer feedback or complaints regarding food quality or service promptly and professionally.
Experience/Skills
1. Proven experience as a Head Chef or assistant Head Chef or in a similar role within a cafe/restaurant or hospitality industry.
2. Strong knowledge of food production techniques and kitchen management.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively while promoting a positive work culture.
4. Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is essential.
5. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
6. A passion for cooking and creativity in menu development is highly desirable.
7. Flexibility in working hours.
8. Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety qualification or comparable City & Guilds qualification, ideally Level 3.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £15.00 per hour
