About the role
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our team as a Customer Support within Waste Services. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of the Harefield Civic Amenities Site. As an apprentice, you will actively engage with the public, providing guidance to ensure proper waste disposal and contributing to improved recycling rates across the borough.
You’ll also gain hands-on experience operating the site’s weighbridge, managing chargeable rates for materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position offers a unique chance to develop valuable skills, work towards professional qualifications, and play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable waste management practices.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual with a passion for environmental issues and a strong interest in developing a career in waste and recycling services. The ideal candidate will have:
* GCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent. A minimum of 2 A-levels is desirable, as is a willingness to study towards relevant professional qualifications.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and confidence in working with the public. Competency in using ICT systems and an understanding of health and safety standards are key.
* A 'can-do' attitude, team spirit, and adaptability in meeting new challenges. You’ll be able to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.
