We’re looking for a Head Chef to lead a talented team, shape exceptional dining experiences, and help drive innovation and consistency in the heart of our restaurant in Derby.
About the Role:
As Head Chef, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing kitchen operations, developing exciting new menu concepts, and leading a team of professionals to deliver high-quality dishes that exceed guest expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Kitchen Oversight
* Plan and prepare dishes to the highest standards
* Supervise the kitchen team during service to ensure efficient performance
* Maintain freshness and quality through proper storage and labelling of ingredients
Team Leadership & Training
* Mentor and train kitchen staff on techniques and food safety
* Schedule team shifts and ensure smooth kitchen operation
* Conduct regular performance reviews to encourage growth and development
Inventory & Budget Control
* Monitor kitchen inventory and manage supply levels
* Track food costs and identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality
* Ensure kitchen cleanliness and full compliance with hygiene standards
Menu Development & Innovation
* Collaborate on new menu ideas and seasonal specials
* Maintain consistency with the restaurant’s culinary concept
* Innovate recipes and food presentation to delight guests
Customer Experience
* Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure guest satisfaction
* Engage with guests for feedback and respond to concerns or compliments
* Represent the kitchen with pride and professionalism
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant
* Strong culinary background with creative flair
* Leadership and motivational skills with a team-oriented mindset
* Up-to-date knowledge of food safety regulations
* Organized, proactive, and excellent under pressure
* Culinary degree or certification is preferred
