An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join a large retailer, known for their sustainability ethos within a Senior Data Engineer role. The company are based in the midlands and the position is FULLY REMOTE.
Key responsibilities:
* Ownership of the data platform development and developments ensuring the society adopts best practice engineering solutions.
* Lead as subject matter expert in the design and recommendation of cloud based data management and analytics platforms.
* Demonstrate your passion for engineering by promoting good engineering practices within the team.
* Help to shape the data and analytics strategy.
* Support the implementation of the wider strategy, vision and mission within the Data & Analytics team.
* Work with the wider Data & Analytics team of BI managers and Analysts, you’ll apply your technical expertise to design, deliver and implement data solutions.
* Ensure quality data is ingested into the data warehouse to ensure accurate and reliable insights can be captured.
* Manage a range of data sources and make sure the data platform for analytics is robust and data is being ingested and structured correctly.
* Design, develop, unit test and deliver processes that extract data from sources, transform data to implement business logic and populate the BI data stores (ETL).
* Implement data cleansing activities in ETL and help define business rules to support data quality.
Skills required:
* A strong understanding of Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks)
* A solid understanding of data concepts and data modelling principles, applied across traditional warehousing and modern data lakes.
* Experience of building Azure functions.
* A broad understanding of BI information exploitation methods including ad hoc queries, data mining techniques, data visualisation, real time intelligence and data exploration
* Practical experience of using Microsoft Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD
* Expert SQL knowledge
* Proficient in Python, PySpark
* The ability and desire to mentor more junior members of the team
* Strong communication skills
* Experience of building data pipelines in Fabric is desirable but not essential.
