Wren Hall Nursing Home is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our catering team and ensure our Family members (residents) and little Wrens Nursery and preschool enjoy a high-quality dining experience every day.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals tailored to family members needs and preferences.
* Order, manage, and maintain adequate stock levels, ensuring freshness and cost-effectiveness.
* Lead, support, and develop the catering team through effective management and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Ensure the dining experience at Wren Hall consistently meets the highest standards of presentation, taste, and hygiene.

* Ensure nutritious and varied food choices are provided in line with our Residents and Children likes and preferences, leasing with relevant others to ascertain their likes and dislikes and organise the menu accordingly.
* Prepare a varied of textured modified meals for those individuals with swallowing difficulties.
* Plan a well-balanced menu to cater for the nutritional and dietary needs of both family members (Residents) and children.
* Order and maintain adequate stock levels of all foodstuffs and ingredients necessary to enable the provision of the menus
* Ensure the kitchen and all equipment and utensils are maintained in a clean and tidy state at all times following Safer Food Better Business (Food Standards Agency)
* Maintain own hygiene standards and those of the catering/kitchen staff working with you to the Nursing Home Hygiene Standards and the Food Hygiene (General) Regulations1970 as amended.
* Develop, manage and lead the catering team in line with Wren Hall Nursing Homes vision, policies & procedures.
* Be involved in the recruitment and selection of the catering and kitchen staff.
* Report any inadequacies of kitchen equipment to either the Manager or Nurse-in- charge.
* Report all accidents, incidents and complaints to the Manager or Nurse in Charge.
General Responsibilities.
* To abide by and work within the Homes Policies, Procedures and guidance, those of the Care Quality Commission, Mansfield and Ashfield CCG, Local Authorities Social Care and Health and Continuing Health Care.
* To work at all times within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at work Act 1974, Employee Staff Hand book and the Homes Health and Safety Policy and Procedure.
* To promote the Homes Fire Policy and Procedures and to complete the Homes Health and Safety and Fire checks as requested.
* To read and implement the Homes Policy and Procedure so as to comply with current legislation for Infection Control and Prevention.
* To attend all Mandatory traininge.g. Food Hygiene, Nutrition and Hydration, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Manual Handling, Health and Safety, First Aid and Dementia Care.
* Comply with the requirements regarding dress, behavior, punctuality and attendance as indicated in the Homes Staff Hand Book.
* Report all accidents, incidents and complaints to either the Manager or Nurse in Charge.
* To participate in management review and team meetings to discuss issues and new ideas. Complete Staff Supervisions and Staff Appraisals in specified time-frames.
* Ensure cleaning is carried out as per cleaning schedule. Quality of goods purchased is monitored.
Requirements:
* Level 3 qualification in Food and Catering Preparation (or equivalent).
* Proven ability to plan menus that meet dietary needs and support overall health and well-being.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills.
* A genuine passion for delivering exceptional food and service in a care setting.
