Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen activities, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation, and fostering a positive team environment within our hospitality establishment. Live in maybe available 2 months work full time hours June July Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities. Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards. Manage food production processes, including portion control and presentation. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times. Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and collaboration. Help create new menu items and contribute to menu planning based on seasonal ingredients. Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage food costs effectively. Address any issues that arise during service promptly to ensure smooth operations. Requirements Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen management practices. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership qualities with experience in team management and staff training. Passion for food and creativity in menu development is highly desirable. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
