Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food safety, with a keen interest in Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.
Duties
1. Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls.
2. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
3. Assist in the development of new sushi recipes and menu items to enhance the dining experience.
4. Maintain an organised kitchen workspace, ensuring all tools and ingredients are readily available.
5. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods.
6. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
7. Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Requirements
1. Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant setting.
2. Strong knowledge of meal preparation techniques and food safety regulations.
3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
4. Excellent attention to detail with a passion for culinary arts.
5. Familiarity with various types of fish and seafood, as well as traditional Japanese cooking methods.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
7. A culinary qualification or relevant training is preferred but not essential.
