Learning & Development Manager - Kingsley Napley LLP
(Permanent/ full time – although would happily consider 4 days a week)
Kingsley Napley (KN) as a business is committed to development & growth; enhancing performance and productivity in a supportive & inclusive environment. Our growing Talent function is looking to strengthen the L&D efforts across the business and strategically align L&D programmes with firm-wide business objectives.
We are looking for a Learning & Development Manager who will take responsibility for all L&D outside of leadership and take the lead in putting these plans into action. This stand-alone (but well supported!) role will carry out a full analysis of the needs of the business; taking responsibility for the creation, delivery and continual improvement of the firm’s core L&D programmes.
We are really excited about this role and we are looking for someone who is equally as passionate and loves what they do! We’re looking for a proven track record of L&D/ management training and delivering projects in a fast-paced environment, with coaching experience and a practical application of different models.
This person will report into the Head of Talent and sit in the wider People & Culture team (circa 20 people) working closely with the People & Culture Business Partners as well as stakeholders across the business. A number of our senior/ partner programmes are part-way implemented, but others at early infancy. This position will also have an internal marketing element, and plenty of scope for progression and development longer-term.
** What’s exciting about the role? **
* The breadth of responsibility and ownership. We are not looking for someone to ‘churn out’ delivery & content – this role will provide genuine stakeholder and supplier management, and true involvement in L&D across the business
* The analysis, creation and delivery of a suite of flagship programmes and imbedding those across the firm
* We are not necessarily looking for people management experience and very happy to look outside of the legal industry. We’re flexible! For us, it’s about finding the right person who can complement the Talent team offering and team/ wider firm culture
* Working closely with the Talent/ People & Culture team and Business Partners – in a true and genuine partnering role
* The size of the firm (circa 500 in total) means that this role will have the breadth/ scope across the business but also 1:1 time with individual teams and managers to support on personal development plans
** What’s challenging? **
* This role is stand-alone L&D - this person will need to be ‘hands-on’ driving things forward and implementing change
* A large part of the role will include internal marketing and utilising active listening/ influencing skills. L&D is respected at KN, but within a professional services/ time poor environment – this person will be required to demonstrate how L&D adds value
* This individual will need to understand/ engage with diverse and busy teams and get under the skin of their work/ aims and objectives for the future
* This person will need to be mindful of budgets and cost. Unfortunately, we do not have the budgets of the Magic Circle firms… and so this individual may need to be creative and resourceful in their approach.
This is a fantastic time to join the number one best ranked Law Firm in London (by Best Companies) at a particularly exciting period of growth. However, it is our people who are the key to our success. KN takes wellness and well-being very seriously, and we have a number of initiatives and programmes in place to ensure that our people feel included, happy and motivated at work. We look for committed, reflective and diverse team players whose core values align with ours.
KN offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits package and a flexible/hybrid working model.
