Job Function:
The main purpose of this job is to ensure the customer receives the highest quality of services and to assist the operational running of the bar, ensuring that staff are fulfilling their duties to the best of their ability.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the smooth running of the bars:
Ensure all venues open on time and are ready for business. Provide excellent front of house service, allocate and support staff throughout the shift to maintain speed of service and cleanliness of the venue. Keep staff busy and productive at all times. Ensure staff meet the standards of the bars, addressing and correcting bad practices where necessary. Maintain back of house and cellars to a high standard. Liaise on shift with Head Chef to resolve problems and ensure great service. Complete daily paperwork to ensure the safe running of the venues, and monitor standards throughout the shift. Actively respond to problems that arise and keep management updated. Ensure the venue closes on time, end of day jobs are completed to a high standard, staff are signed off promptly, and all areas are checked and secured for the next day’s service. Maintain all areas within your remit (e.g., toilets, smoking area, restaurant) and clean and maintain all equipment, notifying management of any issues. Assist in cash handling procedures as required and provide feedback on your shift to the managers and supervisor taking over.
2. Stock & Financial Control:
Provide supervision and assist in the timely and accurate completion of tasks related to tills. Follow all till and cashing up procedures and ensure all staff comply. Conduct detailed checks of deliveries for accuracy and quality of product. Ensure stock is received and secured in the cellar on delivery, apply stock rotation when storing deliveries, and monitor display stock levels throughout your shift, replenishing as required.
3. Assist in the training of bar staff:
Assist in induction days as required. Monitor new staff and allocate “shadows” for their first few shifts. Report back to the managers any areas where refresher training may be needed. Help coach and bring staff through, briefing them at the beginning of the night and debriefing at the end.
4. Health & Safety:
Ensure high standards of health and safety are maintained at all times. Complete required cleaning tasks in accordance with the Bars daily and weekly tasks sheet, ensuring work is completed to a high standard. Keep storage areas in a clean, tidy, and safe condition. Report any faults or problems with equipment and the venue. Work in a way that minimizes risks to health and safety and security. Ensure all cleaning products and substances that could cause a health risk are used according to the data sheet contained within the C.O.S.H.H folder for the venue.
