High on a wooded ridge, the Hog’s Back Hotel’s distinctive façade has been a welcome sight for travellers on this road for generations.
Step inside and the accent is on classic comfort, from the stylish restaurant and bar to the 96 spacious, light-filled bedrooms. A high-spec spa and pool meanwhile invite relaxation – or invigoration in the Hog’s Back Leisure Club gym. The location could hardly be better. Historic Guildford and the Surrey Hills are on your doorstep, and some of the UK’s leading attractions are a short hop by car, from Legoland and royal Windsor to the thrills of Thorpe Park.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Sous Chef that has a true passion for great food with a clear focus on presentation and quality service, able to inspire and lead the brigade.
Your Sous Chef responsibilities will include:
1. Create, prepare, cook and present dishes - running your section, leading section(s) and coordinating service with colleagues.
2. Mindful of wastage, portions, time efficiencies and working with all departments to ensure smooth service.
3. Supporting Head Chef to lead and mentor less experienced colleagues - working as a team to deliver great food to guests in a timely manner.
4. Event and conference banqueting.
5. Flexibility to cook and serve on any section to ensure smooth service - great food, every time!
6. Following Food Safety and Health & Hygiene regulations at all times, including clean up and cleanliness of section.

5. Willing to share ideas around improving the customer’s experience - whether that's creating a new sauce or practicing your knife skills!
