With a strong track record of funding and over £10bn in transactions processed, we’re on an exciting growth trajectory. As part of our data-driven expansion, we’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our high-performing team.
The Role:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work within a collaborative data team to design, build, and optimise data pipelines for real-time and batch processing. Your work will directly impact business intelligence, analytics, and AI/ML applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Databricks
* Implement ELT frameworks for transforming, enriching, and processing large datasets
* Design data models and optimize query performance and cost-efficiency
* Ensure data security, compliance, and governance (GDPR, privacy regulations)
* Build and automate CI/CD pipelines for efficient data operations
* Work with real-time data processing tools such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Azure Stream Analytics
* Partner with data analysts, product teams, and engineers to ensure seamless data accessibility
* Research emerging technologies to improve our data engineering capabilities
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and best practices
Skills & Experience:
* Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data engineering
* Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables
* Experience in batch and real-time data processing
* Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks)
* Solid understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and governance
* Experience in data DevOps (Terraform, GitHub, DevOps pipelines)
* Agile team experience in Scrum/Kanban environments
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize large-scale data architectures
Bonus Points:
* Knowledge of payments, insurance, or financial services
* Experience supporting AI/ML data pipelines
* Background in software engineering and automated data testing
