Head Chef Location: Ipswich Salary: £12.82 - £16.36 per hour DOE Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Why Join? Main Purpose: To manage the kitchen and its staff while preparing and cooking meals to a high standard in accordance with organizational guidelines. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Plan weekly menus in consultation with the Head of Operations and service users. Ensure food is safely prepared, stored, and presented to meet organizational standards. Oversee compliance with Environmental Health regulations and internal policies. Develop and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment. Manage and train catering staff to maintain high standards of food safety and quality. Record necessary data in line with policies and support external audits and inspections. Contribute to Quality Improvement Groups as required. Identify and address training needs for catering staff. Additional Responsibilities: Manage the catering department budget, ensuring costs remain within agreed limits. Lead and support chefs and catering assistants under the guidance of the Head of Operations. Represent the catering department in meetings and maintain service user confidentiality. Facilitate a safe working environment and adapt to changes or additional tasks as necessary. About You: Level 3 Food Hygiene certification (or willingness to achieve it). City and Guilds 706/707 or NVQ Level 3 in General Catering (or equivalent). Proven experience managing kitchens. Skilled in catering for varying dietary needs and nutritional requirements. Knowledge of COSHH, HACCP, and Health & Safety regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively as part of a team.
