ROLE: Director, Human Resources & EDI
SUMMARY: The Director, HR & EDI will collaborate with the leadership team, colleagues
and volunteers to develop and lead the HR strategy for Golf Ontario, including employment practices to attract, retain and engage talent, compliance, administration, training, benefits, compensation and health, safety and wellness.
The Director, HR & EDI will drive the strategy for advancing Golf Ontario’s commitment to EDI and Safe Sport, including collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build an inclusive environment that will shape lives by connecting people to positive golf experiences across Ontario.
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
STATUS: Full Time / Permanent
LOCATION: Hybrid work-from-home environment with time required in the office in Uxbridge, ON and travel throughout the province.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Human Resources Leadership
· Develop and lead the delivery of innovative programs for Golf Ontario colleagues to attract, retain and engage a skilled, diverse and passionate team: including full cycle recruitment and onboarding, talent management, performance management and training.
· Develop and lead the implementation of employment structures, policies and practices having the highest governance.
· Develop and lead ongoing review and training for all stakeholders on employment related policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook.
· Develop and Lead programs, policies and practices for Safe Sport and Health, Safety and Wellness, including reporting processes and procedures for incidents, complaints, and overall feedback to the organization to ensure effective communication and resolution of any issues, as required.
· Lead strategy to ensure Safe Sport policy compliance is achieved and maintained in accordance with policy, industry standards and expectations.
· Develop and Lead the annual HR and Compensation budget for the association, in collaboration with the CEO and CFO.
· Lead the work plan delivery of the Board HR & Compensation Committee, with support from the CEO.
· Develop and lead innovative programs for Golf Ontario volunteers to attract, retain and engage a diverse group of volunteers, including the development of overall best-in-class service and experience standards for the many engagement points with our volunteers.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (“EDI”)
· Drive the EDI Strategy to advance Golf Ontario’s vision of Golf For All.
· Direct engagement and materials presentation to select Board of Directors members on the EDI Work Group, lead quarterly meetings, deliverables, and work plans.
· Ensure that all Golf Ontario (“GO”) activities are viewed through an EDI lens.
· Stay current to leading and innovative diversity research, events, and topics.
· Drive the strategy for delivering a meaningful EDI content page on the gao.ca website.
· In collaboration with the Director, Marketing & Communications, deliver a marketing and communication strategy within Golf Ontario to inspire the sport and advance the vision of Golf For All.
· Lead in the engagement with internal and external stakeholders who will actively partner with underrepresented communities within the golf industry. Act as a liaison between external advocacy groups, diversity champions, etc.
· Provides leadership support and consultancy on all EDI matters to business leaders.
Team Culture
· Develop and lead the strategy for building a Performance Based Team Culture and brilliant work environment.
· Lead Golf Ontario social committee, in collaboration with internal colleagues.
· Schedule and organize Leadership and All Team meetings at Golf Ontario, including agenda development, scheduling and organization.
Human Resources Administration
· Administer programs and policy attestations such as ‘Safe Sport’ for all staff, volunteers, and parents of athletes.
· Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and Discipline and Complaints Committee.
· Develop and Lead administration and strategy for vacation, lieu time and absence management for Golf Ontario in accordance with legislation and association values.
· Lead ongoing administration, deliver and review of the Employee Benefits Plan
· Ensure accurate and efficient payroll process and approval.
REQUISITE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
· Undergraduate degree in Human Resources.
· Proven ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, delivering initiatives and role duties with accuracy and integrity.
· CHRP/CHRL designation.
· Proven experience and successful track record in change management and leadership.
· Passion for learning about EDI, experience with evolving EDI business practices an asset.
· Golf knowledge or experience is not required but considered an asset.
