The Role As a Database Engineer, youll be at the heart of the companys technical evolution. Youll help build and optimise the data systems that power a multi-tenant platform, seamlessly handling data ingested from numerous on-premises devices. Working with a collaborative and forward-thinking team, youll help ensure high performance, security, and reliability across the companys data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design and deploy robust cloud-based database solutions using AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud technologies. Collaborate with development teams to integrate database services, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and seamless functionality across the platform. Optimise data models and structures to enhance access, storage efficiency, and overall performance. Support the development and execution of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data durability and availability. Contribute to performance tuning, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and optimisation. Enforce best-in-class database security measures, including encryption and access controls. Design databases that align with project requirements, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions. Maintain best practices in database management, including documentation, version control, and participation in code reviews. Leverage observability tools to monitor database performance and quickly resolve issues. Stay ahead of emerging database technologies and trends, contributing ideas for potential integration into the companys tech stack. Ideal Candidate Bachelors degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud-based database engineering. Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing databases on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Strong knowledge of data modelling principles with experience in both SQL and NoSQL technologies. Proficiency in query optimisation, performance tuning, indexing, and data normalisation. Solid understanding of database security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and data protection mechanisms. Experience developing cloud-based backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating business requirements into scalable and efficient database solutions. A track record of maintaining highly available and reliable database systems, with a commitment to operational excellence. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
