Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Pullman London St Pancras. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, and contributing to the overall success of our dining experience.
* Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in managing kitchen operations and staff
* Ensure consistent food quality and presentation across all dishes
* Supervise and participate in food preparation, cooking, and plating
* Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies
* Implement and maintain food safety and hygiene standards
* Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal specials
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to improve their skills and efficiency
* Assist in cost control measures, including minimizing food waste and optimizing ingredient usage
* Ensure proper equipment maintenance and cleanliness in the kitchen
* Contribute to menu planning and recipe development
* Participate in food tasting sessions and quality control checks
Qualifications
* Minimum Professional Certificate in a Culinary-related field
* At least 4 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant setting
* Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
* Excellent understanding of food safety standards and HACCP guidelines
* Proven experience in kitchen management and staff supervision
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control
* Detail-oriented with a focus on food quality and presentation
* Innovative approach to culinary trends and techniques
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team
* Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
* Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
