Your new company
The UK arm of a global specialist publishing firm is looking for a standalone HR generalist to lead the function in the UK. With a small headcount, the business will rely on this person to act as a subject-matter expert for all of HR and manage the day-to-day functions of the business. Reporting to the HRD in Denmark, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing the day-to-day HR administration for the business, utilising the HRIS to draft reports on absence, payroll and performance, whilst administering employee changes (benefits, pensions, new starters, promotions).
2. Act as a point of contact for HR in the UK, advising senior stakeholders and employees on all queries.
3. Lead the recruitment process for the UK, liaising with line managers and partnering with the HRD to benchmark salaries.
4. Manage onboarding - conducting right to work checks, issuing contracts and liaising with recruitment agencies for relevant vacancies.
5. Manage any employee relations queries/cases that occur, including performance and absence management, parental leave, disciplinaries and grievances etc.
6. Partner with the HRD to support on ad hoc projects including the review of all HR processes to ensure they are aligned to market trends and legislative requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Experience as a standalone HR generalist within the private sector is essential, ideally within Media, Marketing, Publishing etc.
2. The ability to communicate with a range of employees, answering lower-level queries and advising senior managers.
3. Excellent attention to detail when processing contracts, offer letters and payroll.
