An exciting new job opportunity has arisen for a talented Head Chef to work in an exceptional care home based in the Scarborough, North Yorkshire area. You will be working for one of the UK's leading health care providers.
This is an extensively refurbished Scarborough care home delivering quality residential care to its patients.
To be considered for this position, you must hold an NVQ Level 2-3 in Food preparing and catering.
As the Head Chef, your key duties include:
1. Meeting the nutritional and dietary needs of residents while respecting individual choices and promoting health and well-being.
2. Managing the efficiency, hygiene, and safety in the catering area and supervising the work of other kitchen staff.
3. Preparing, cooking, and serving meals for residents, visitors, and staff daily, including catering for ad-hoc events.
4. Maintaining correct HACCP principles in all catering areas and ensuring all legislative standards are met.
5. Checking food stocks, listing requirements, and ordering supplies while ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to the financial plan with the Line Manager.
6. Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas in accordance with the Food Safety Manual, ensuring all kitchen equipment is safe and clean, and reporting defects to a senior member of staff.
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
1. Culinary degree or relevant certification.
2. Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs, and food safety regulations.
3. Strong leadership and team management skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the care home.
6. Ability to manage time effectively and work efficiently under pressure.
7. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
8. Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff.
The successful Head Chef will receive an excellent salary of GBP 13.89 per hour, amounting to an annual salary of GBP 28,891.20.
