About the role: An opportunity has arisen within the Adult Social Care Mental Health Service for the post of consultant social worker (CSW) Working closely with the National Think Ahead Programme you will be required to provide leadership and training for a cohort of four social work trainees. You will be involved in all aspects of their development including writing end of term reports and assisting with the ASYE year. You will provide weekly clinical supervision and attend all key meetings with the Think Ahead Programme. You will also be required to keep the Head of Service apprised of all developments and provide workable solutions to problems as they arise. A teaching qualification is desirable as is a proven track record in working within a mental health operational setting. >> Click here to download the Role Profile Key Responsibilities: Understanding the role of evidence and one’s own intuition in decision making. • Able to observe, analyze and appropriately challenge practice, able to identify areas of strengths and areas for development in another’s practice. • Uses excellent communication skills to confidently provide analytical, constructive feedback to others to develop their practice. • Able to create a supervisory relationship which provides an emotionally containing space for the supervisee, including being highly supportive and nurturing. • Able to adapt this relationship to be more enabling as the supervisee develops in competence and confidence. • Demonstrable track-record in improving outcomes for adults (and families.) • Applies evidence-based models of social work help into practice in a statutory adult adults social care setting. 8 • Critically evaluates and effectively manages risk in complex cases, recognising how bias and evidence influence risk management. Comfortable managing risk in a high pressure, human services environment. • Possesses high quality communication skills in both written skills (e.g., reports) and verbal and non-verbal communication with adults. • Social Work Qualification and professional registration with Social Work England • Knowledge of own strengths and areas for development, and able to use critical feedback to improve own performance, taking responsibility for one’s own professional development. • Models professionalism through personal presentation and behaviour. Is organised and manages time effectively. • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). ▪ ICT skills including use of Microsoft applications.
