The role
We are seeking an experienced back-end developer to join our Customer Lifetime Value (CLtV) team as Data Engineer. You’ll collaborate with our Core Systems team to develop in this key area of our business.
Develop a state-of-the-art system:
1. Develop and enhance our customer evaluation platform.
2. Build and maintain a robust feature store for model inputs.
3. Design and optimise data pipelines for efficient data processing.
Responsibility:
1. Own key parts of our systems.
2. Improve systems architecture in collaboration with data scientists to ensure model outputs are consistent, and that scientists fully understand the infrastructure.
3. Define and communicate your own technical agenda to champion technology and deliver our long-term goals.
Collaboration:
1. Build stakeholder relationships to understand and influence the business domain.
2. Develop strong relationships with data scientists on the team to ensure efficient deployments and a seamless experience for business stakeholders.
The team
CLtV means Customer Lifetime Value. It represents the value each customer brings to iwoca. This concept is central to our business, influencing decisions across every department.
The CLtV team is a small and versatile group of people who manage the CLtV model from the R&D stage all the way to deploying model releases into production. They manage data pipelines that enable the business to use our predictions in their day-to-day decision-making.
It’s a dynamic and autonomous environment that emphasises ‘getting things done’ and delivering high quality solutions.
The requirements
Essential:
1. Proficiency in Python, with a strong background in back-end engineering.
2. A keen interest in maintaining and optimising current systems.
3. Commercial awareness and a product mindset.
4. An ability to understand complex data systems.
5. Interest in data engineering.
Bonus:
1. Experience with Django, PostgreSQL, and designing, building, and managing relational databases.
2. Experience building large systems in complex business domains.
3. Experience with data analytics and machine learning processes.
4. A strong numerical or technical background, ideally with a degree in maths, physics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
The salary
We expect to pay from £70,000 - £90,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
