Head Chef
Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days per week, every other weekend
Pay Rate: £15.15 an hour

We are currently recruiting for a Head Chef to join our Hospitality team, Working as a Head Chef at Runwood Homes, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long hours. You will have full autonomy in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus, whilst liaising with residents to ensure they are involved in the menu creations. We are looking for warm, motivated, and passionate chefs who are driven by quality and high standards, to deliver person centred hospitality to our residents. Key responsibilities:
1. Work within the agreed company budget.
2. Ensure all kitchen staff are trained on dish specification and budget control
3. Manage the stock in the kitchen.
4. Inspire and motivate the team to achieve food to specification and therefore ensure satisfaction of our residents.
5. Lead by example, setting the pace and standards.
6. Meet monthly with the management team to ensure dietary requirements for all residents are met.
7. Train and develop the team to deliver food to specification and exceed residents’ expectations.
8. Ensure all food is cooked to a safe temperature and is taste tested before serving.
9. Ensure that the storage of food meets company and statutory health and safety requirements.
10. Deliver the company kitchen standards as identified on the kitchen audit.
11. Implement and ensure the company Health and Safety policy is met at all times – this includes the training of all kitchen staff.
Experience & Qualifications
12. Relevant experience in a catering environment
13. Intermediate/Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
14. Advanced knowledge of handling and operation of equipment including knives
15. Good leadership skills
16. Experience in achieving food margins
17. To have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation is completed.
18. Menu writing/planning/costing.
19. Experience in systems compliance and delivering company standards.
20. Personnel skills
21. Team Player
22. Understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements, and appropriate methods of ensuring that these are met
23. Genuine interest in working within a caring environment
24. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
25. Satisfactory police check and check against the ISA list (where applicable)
26. Basic Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
27. Previous Experience of working with nutritional information would be desirable
