Socialite Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, Canterbury is a modern and stylish all-day restaurant, situated in the heart of Canterbury with the best views of the Cathedral. Our cocktail bar is full of signature cocktails and all the classics. We have a fine dining restaurant with outdoor seating in the summer plus a lounge/bar area serving small plates all day.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of food production and preparation, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety. As the Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the menu, supervising kitchen operations, and ensuring that our restaurant remains a top choice for guests seeking quality dining.
Responsibilities
1. Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities.
2. Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
3. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
4. Prepare and cook dishes according to the restaurant's menu specifications.
5. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
6. Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and restaurant policies.
7. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
8. Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
Experience
1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
2. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
3. In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, food production processes, and kitchen management.
4. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
5. Excellent communication skills to liaise with both kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.
6. A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes is highly desirable.

Pay: £33,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
