Our client is a Gastro Pubthat is passionate about serving high quality, gourmet comfort foodand Sunday roasts to guests travelling from near and far for aquick drink, a 3-course meal, or a plannedevent.
At present, they have a rare andexciting opportunity for a Sous Chef to join their fun and friendlyteam permanently.

Based in the rural outskirts of Sevenoaksthis charismatic Gastro Pub is always aiming to have a vibrantseasonal menu and utilise local produce and suppliers. Withspecials updated weekly and the main menu changing monthly in orderto showcase in-season produce, the Sous Chef will workcollaboratively with the team to develop and execute new andinteresting recipes and dishes.
Being a busypub means the hours are subject to change depending on the day ofthe week and seasons. The Chef will work 5 days per week Wednesdayto Sunday.
Key responsibilities will include,yet not be limited to:
- Assist in thepreparation and design of all food and drinks menus
-Produce high-quality plates both design and taste-wise
-Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets ourquality standards
- Assist the Head Chef in planning anddirecting food preparation when necessary
- Identify andresolve issues or errors when they occur
- Manage andtrain kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff'sperformance
- Order supplies to stock inventoryappropriately
- Comply with and enforce sanitationregulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positiveand professional approach with coworkers andcustomers
The ideal candidate willhave:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef orstrong experience as a Junior Sous
- Proven experienceand responsibility in a busy, fast-paced kitchen
-Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment,and processes
- Ability to multitask and work efficientlyunder pressure - circa 600 covers per week
- Knowledge ofbest cooking practices and understanding of trends and newstyles
- Attention to detail and high standards ofpresentation, creative flair, and imagination
- Able towork effectively as part of a team with a 'can do' attitude and awillingness to continually improve
- Food Hygienequalifications and professional cooking qualifications - preferrednot essential
