Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join the Calo Kitchen team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations, oversee staff, assist with menu preparation, ensure food quality and freshness, and manage ordering and stocking. The successful candidate will use their culinary and managerial skills to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities
1. Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and meets quality standards.
2. Fill in for the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary.
3. Resolve issues that arise and take control of any problematic situations.
4. Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance.
5. Clearly communicate tasks to team members.
6. Order supplies and manage inventory effectively.
7. Enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
8. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers.
9. Produce high-quality plates, focusing on both design and taste.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications
1. Previous experience as a CDP or Sous Chef.
2. 8+ years of experience in the hospitality and catering industry, with 1-2 years in a Sous Chef role.
3. Currently based in the UK.
4. Proficient communicator in English.
5. Previous experience in a food manufacturing facility is a plus.
6. Able to work rotating shifts (day, afternoon, night) depending on the company’s needs.
7. Able to commute to NW10 7PR.
Knowledge and Competency
1. Experience leading teams and managing multiple sections of the kitchen.
2. Proven ability in kitchen management.
3. Skilled in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress.
4. Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
5. Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.
6. Well-versed in kitchen-related software and proficient in MS Office.
Personality
1. Strong communicator with a pleasant personality.
2. Able to lead with empathy and foster a positive team environment.
