As Senior Data Engineer the key purpose of this role is to deliver new, and changes to existing data solutions, data extraction and transform (ETL) for identified and agreed business requirements, providing accurate and timely information in support of business needs through projects and programmes. In this role, you will deliver new and existing data solutions, data extraction and transformation for identified agreed business requirements, providing accurate and timely information in support of business needs through projects and programmes. Your responsibilities will include… Leading solutions for Data Engineering Championing and educating people in the development and use of Data Engineering best practises Supporting the Head of Data Engineering and leading by example Contributing to the development of database management services and associated processes relating to the delivery of data solutions Providing requirements analysis, documentation, development, delivery and maintenance of data platforms Developing database requirements in a structured and logical manner, ensuring delivery is aligned with business prioritisation and best practise Designing and delivering performance enhancements, application migration processes and version upgrades across a pipeline of environments Working with clients, existing asset owners & their service providers, and non-Data Engineering colleagues to clarify and deliver work stream objectives in timescales that deliver to the overall project expectations Developing and maintaining documentation in support of all Data Engineering processes Proactively identifying cost-justifiable improvements to data manipulation processes Promoting a culture that embraces change, continuous improvement and a ‘can do’ attitude Demonstrating enthusiasm and self-motivation at all times Establishing effective working relationships with other internal teams to drive improved efficiency and effective processes Be a champion for high quality data and use of strategic data repositories, associated relational model, and Data Warehouse for optimising the delivery of accurate, consistent and reliable Data Engineering solutions This role can either be based in our offices in Chatham in Kent or Wolverhampton We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £55,000 - £70,000 and a competitive benefits package including: Discretionary annual bonus opportunity of up to 15% 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays Contributory pension (8% employer 5% employee) Life Assurance (4x salary) plus Group Income Protection Access to Private Medical Insurance and Medical Cash Plan Additional benefits such as Hybrid working, Cycle Purchase scheme, Technology Purchase scheme, Season Ticket Loan, Holiday purchase / sell schemes, Employee Perk Portals, Payroll giving and Save as you Earn scheme We also believe that your career and how you progress is as unique as your individual personality. We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below: Previous experience: in Data Engineering and ETL development, in a structured Change Management project lifecycle Extensive experience using SSMS, T-SQL Experience using SSRS, SSIS would be advantageous Working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies Delivering complex data platform solutions Experience mentoring other members of the team on best practise and internal standards ability to translate knowledge into data solutions for the broader business A strong knowledge of Data Engineering solutions and data warehouse methodologies We also believe that your career and how you progress is as unique as your individual personality.
