The Bothy is a Scottish restaurant set in a beautiful 150-year-old converted farmhouse in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
We are looking for an ambitious and creative sous chef to support & learn from our experienced and talented head chef.
Working with the best produce Scotland has to offer delivered by award-winning suppliers. Every dish is made from scratch in our newly refurbished kitchen. We fillet and bone whole fish and meat is butchered in-house. Our menus change seasonally, and you will have input into new dishes on our a la carte menu. Expect to learn new skills and techniques and be challenged every day.

Job Overview: As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our kitchen. You will work alongside our Head Chef to deliver exceptional dishes, maintain high standards, and lead a team of dedicated chefs. We’re looking for someone with a love for fresh, seasonal ingredients, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to inspire others.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency.
* Contribute to menu development with creative and seasonal dishes.
* Lead and mentor the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
* Oversee food preparation and cooking, ensuring all dishes meet our high standards.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and organised kitchen, complying with all health and safety regulations.
* Assist with ordering, inventory management, and food cost control.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a Senior Chef de Partie ready to take the next step.
* Strong culinary skills with a passion for working with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
* Leadership abilities with a focus on teamwork and development.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain composure in a busy kitchen.
