Are you an experienced data engineer looking for an opportunity to learn the Azure cloud enterprise stack? Does transforming the customer experience for millions of UK citizens sound interesting? If so, this role may be perfect for you.
Join us within DWP’s Health Data and Analytics team to make a difference to transformative Health and Disability work. We care about our employees and can offer you an environment that is family-friendly and supportive in an organisation with a real social purpose.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support the most vulnerable people in our society.
DWP Digital creates digital services that almost everyone in the UK relies on at some point in their lives. We’re carrying out a once-in-a-generation digital transformation - a task of size and scale unmatched elsewhere.
If you enjoy collaborating with users and stakeholders to understand their needs and are looking for a data engineer role that is more than just coding, we’d love to hear from you. We can offer you opportunities to:
* Work with genuinely interesting use cases and data sources.
* Make a big difference to the lives of millions of vulnerable citizens.
* Shape our next gen platform capability, ways of working, and future direction of data exploitation.
Joining a close-knit team at the heart of one DWP’s highest priority transformation projects, the Health Transformation Programme, you’ll help steer the transformation of two crucial services: Personal Independence Payments and the Health Assessment Service.
Our platform is built upon the Azure enterprise stack, using cutting edge technologies to transform and visualise data for our end users. We are also embarking on Machine Learning initiatives.
Our work means having confidence that we are choosing the right thing to do. Data is never perfect, though, and that’s where you come in.
To support us in this task, you’ll design and build a variety of data products that help the Health Transformation Programme identify, shape and assess the benefits of a multitude of initiatives. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and data colleagues to fully understand user needs, then shape ETL pipelines to meet them. You’ll deliver data solutions in line with needs and will guide test colleagues and others through the process.
You will also identify, investigate, and resolve any Live Service issues. These could be data quality or batch processing failures, all of which will require an insightful and problem-solving mindset.
Our team consists of data engineers, data scientists, digital performance analysts, testers, content designers, user researchers, and Power BI specialists. You will line manage a junior data engineer and be responsible for their professional and technical development.
We are a friendly and inclusive team that works according to Agile principles. We pride ourselves on working together to solve problems.
