Senior Data Engineer
Location: Lithia UK, Hybrid - requirement to work from the Annesley (Nottinghamshire) or Milton Keynes once a week with additional ad hoc travel as required.

Reporting into the Data Solutions Manager, you'll play a vital role in designing, developing, and optimising scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. Your Journey as a Senior Data Engineer:
1. Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources, ensuring data reliability and quality.
2. Implement seamless data integration processes supporting the continuous flow of information across the organisation.
3. Design, optimise, and manage databases to oversee data retrieval and storage, prioritising performance, availability, and scalability.
4. Craft efficient ETL processes transforming raw data into usable formats, including data cleaning, aggregation, and enrichment, streamlining data processing for enhanced efficiency.
5. Build and maintain data warehouses for structured data storage, ensuring it is organised for easy retrieval, reporting, and analysis.
6. Implement stringent data quality checks and validation processes to ensure high accuracy, proactively monitoring and rectifying data integrity issues.
7. Optimise data pipelines and databases for performance and scalability, anticipating future growth and evolving business needs.
8. Enforce robust data security measures to uphold privacy regulations and safeguard against unauthorised access, ensuring data asset protection.
9. Maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, processes, and models, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer and ongoing support.
10. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, fostering a data-driven culture by understanding requirements and delivering effective solutions together.
11. Mentor junior team members and manage requests and task lists as required.
Are You Ready to Embrace the Challenge?
We're looking for someone with:
* Significant experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, looking to step up.
* Advanced SQL skills with relational and NoSQL databases.
* Experience with data pipeline and ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Databricks, APIs).
* Understanding of data environments (Data Lakes, Synapse, Delta Lakes, Snowflake).
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
* Knowledge of data modelling, database design principles, data warehousing, and data visualisation tools.
* Excellent attention to detail and creativity in designing, developing, and informing business strategy.
* Ability to work collaboratively and appreciate diverse perspectives.
* Experience coaching and mentoring junior members.
* Experience leading projects or managing data elements in larger projects.
* Experience in task management and delegating tasks.
* Confidence in engaging with senior staff across the business.
