Our team is at the heart of our success, and we are now seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join us as the Job Architecture and Total Rewards Manager. This is initially a 4 month fixed term contract.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Colleague Experience & Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing First Bus job architecture framework and total rewards strategy, including compensation and benefits, plus and other initiatives designed to attract, retain, and motivate our colleagues.
This is a home based/hybrid role,with occasional travel around First Bus sites in the UK and to attend in-person meetings
Key Responsibilities:
JobArchitecture Design and Management
Develop and maintain Job Structures: Create, manage, and optimize job families, levels, and roles across First Bus to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with business needs
Job Evaluation: Conduct job evaluations and classifications to determine the relative value of positions, ensuring internal equity and alignment with market standards
Job Descriptions: Oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate job descriptions, detailing responsibilities, qualifications, and required competencies for all roles.
Career Pathing and Progression: Support the design and implementation of career progression frameworks, providing colleagues with clear pathways for development and growth within First Bus
Competency Frameworks: Support the development and integration of competency models to support job architecture and align with performance management and talent development processes
Total Rewards Strategy
Compensation Management: Lead the design, implementation, and management of compensation structures, including base pay, variable pay, and incentive programs, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with business objectives
Benefits Administration: Oversee the administration of colleague benefits programs (for example, private health insurance, BAYE/SAYE, benefits platforms), ensuring they are competitive, cost-effective, and responsive to colleagues needs
Market Benchmarking: Conduct regular benchmarking and market analysis to maintain the competitiveness of First Bus' total rewards offering
Pay Equity: Monitor and address pay equity issues, ensuring fair and consistent compensation practices across First Bus
Integration ofJob Architecture and Total Rewards
Alignment of Compensation with Job Structures: Ensure that compensation strategies are aligned with the job architecture framework, supporting fair and consistent reward practices across all job levels
Job Pricing: Utilise job architecture data to inform job pricing and compensation decisions, ensuring roles are appropriately valued in the market and within First Bus
Performance-Based Rewards: Collaborate with the People team and leadership teams to link performance management processes with total rewards, ensuring that compensation reflects individual and organizational performance
Stakeholder Management
Collaboration: Work closely with the People team, Finance and business leaders to ensure that the job architecture and total rewards strategies are aligned with the First Bus' overall objectives
Advisory Role: Provide expert guidance and support to leadership on all matters related to job architecture, compensation, and benefits
Compliance, Governance andContinuous Improvement
Audit and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of job architecture and total rewards programs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance
Evaluation: Regularly assess and improve the job architecture and total rewards programs to meet evolving business needs and colleague expectations
Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in job architecture and total rewards, introducing innovative approaches to enhance the First Buss offerings
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Ideally, a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional HR qualification (e.g., CIPD) is highly desirable
Experience in job architecture, compensation, and benefits management, preferably within a large or complex organization. Experience in the transport or related industries is a plus
Strongunderstanding of job evaluation methodologies and total rewards principles
Excellentanalytical and data interpretation skills, with a strong attention to detail, with the ability to present in a way that can inform strategic decisions
Provenability to develop and implement reward strategies that drive business performance
Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organisation
Experience managing large-scalecompensation and benefits project
Strong projectmanagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in HRIS and other rewardmanagement tools
What We Offer:
Competitive Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 reflective of your experience and expertise, plus a bonus of up to 15% cash based on business and personal performance
