Job Description:
As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions -- we have a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. This vision touches everything we do, motivating and inspiring us to become better every day. If you are looking for a firm where you can build a future and make an impact, then RSM is the place for you.
At RSM, we want training to be more than just a transfer of knowledge. Training is a vital ingredient of every individual’s development. It is highly valued and respected by the business.
To earn that respect, we design our courses in collaboration with the business to ensure we meet their needs. We are constantly striving to develop more engaging and innovative forms of training delivery to ensure that those who attend our courses want to keep coming back for more.
The role of Financial Reporting Technical Training Specialist is a fantastic opportunity for you to be a senior member of the Financial Reporting Training team and contribute to the development of the next generation of accountants and auditors at RSM. The growth of the business across all service lines gives rise to ever-increasing volume and complexity of financial reporting training needs.
Why is training unique at RSM?
At RSM, we believe that high-quality training is achieved when the trainer is involved at every stage. The training team is involved from the very start, collaborating with the business to scope the training needs. They bring innovation in the design of the training and ultimately are involved in the delivery of the finished product. The team has full responsibility for training projects and is supported throughout, including technical reviews, a separate team of eLearning developers, and peer reviews within the wider training team.
The training team works closely with various stakeholders from the business to develop and deliver a programme of training that both responds to the regulatory rigours of the profession and complements the professional development of every member of the team.
Role description
RSM’s Financial Reporting training team works in partnership with audit, tax, and consulting contributing to the success of our firm and, in turn, our clients.
The team helps to empower our frontline colleagues through the design and delivery of clearly scoped, targeted training courses. Our training is built on a foundation of core financial reporting knowledge with bespoke design tailored to meet the specific operational needs of the service line, helping to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practical application.
As a trainer of financial reporting for audit, you will:
* Develop close working relationships with the director of audit training and a range of stakeholders across the audit business to identify FR for audit training needs.
* Design and implement a training strategy to meet those needs.
* Work in close collaboration with the wider financial reporting team to identify economies of scale where training content has cross-service line relevance and benefit.
The successful candidate will:
* Be an excellent project manager with the ability to design and deliver complex training content meeting strict deadlines.
* Have experience in the design and delivery of training across a range of mediums, with specific focus on live online and eLearning with minimal in-person training.
* Be able to influence a range of senior stakeholders, achieving the goal of delivering premium training that meets the needs of the audit service line.
About the ideal candidate
Being a trainer is much more than teaching people what the standards say. It’s about using your understanding of the subject matter to bring the content to life. Therefore, being a confident presenter who is able to relay sometimes complex materials in a way that is both engaging and easy to understand is an important attribute for every trainer.
In addition to the delivery of training, you’ll also be involved in supporting the wider training team in the development and coordination of the training programme. Therefore, strong project and time management skills are essential.
The role requires:
* You will be ACA, ICAS, or equivalent qualified.
* Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP is highly desirable, as is an interest in Non-financial (narrative) reporting.
* Previous training experience is desirable, but not essential.
* The role is home-based with an option to work flexibly from your local office. Delivery of training is predominantly online, but occasionally in person. Therefore, there is a requirement to be able to travel anywhere nationally. Substantial advance notice of all travel requirements is generally given.
