Head Chef - Nursing Home
Salary: Up to £37,000
Hours: 40 hours per week

Requirements and Qualifications:
* Experience: Proven experience in a chef role, preferably within a care home or large-scale catering environment. Experience in leading a kitchen team is essential.
* Qualifications: Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
* Food Safety Certification: Understanding of food hygiene regulations and a valid food safety certificate.
* Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop kitchen staff.
* Organisation and Efficiency: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time and budgets effectively and meet deadlines in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring the smooth operation of kitchen activities at all times.
* Plan, prepare, and present high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
* Work closely with the nursing home team to ensure that the nutritional needs of residents are met in line with care plans.
* Oversee food stock control, ordering, and food rotation to minimize waste and maintain budgeted food costs.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, COSHH, and Health and Safety at Work requirements.
* Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
* Take responsibility for menu planning and development, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and seasonal changes.
* Handle stocktaking and ensure the kitchen maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization.
* Lead by example to ensure the kitchen meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and service.
* Build strong relationships with residents, listening to feedback and making improvements where necessary to enhance their dining experience.
