We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Sous Chef to join a team operating within a residential catering environment. This role supports the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals tailored to the needs of residents, while ensuring compliance with dietary requirements and food safety standards. You will play a key part in leading the kitchen team, maintaining standards, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of food service in a residential setting. Key Responsibilities: Support the Head Chef in planning and preparing well-balanced, resident-focused menus. Supervise kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared and presented to a high standard. Lead and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing training and direction during service. Ensure compliance with all health & safety, food hygiene, and allergen regulations. Monitor food production and portion control to minimize waste and manage costs. Assist in ordering, stock control, and inventory management. Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and service areas. Liaise with front-of-house and care/residential teams to ensure dietary needs are met (e.g., texture-modified diets, allergens, religious or cultural requirements). Take charge in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring continuity of service and leadership. Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent is desirable. Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar kitchen environment, preferably in residential or healthcare catering. Knowledge of nutrition and special dietary requirements. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 preferred). Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
