Your Role
As the Team Leader – Data Engineering, you will:
1. Build & Lead a World-Class Team – Hire, mentor, and develop data engineers, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
2. Drive Technical Excellence – Provide architectural guidance, implement best practices, and solve complex data challenges.
3. Deliver Impactful Solutions – Spend ~50% of your time working on client projects, ensuring top-tier data solutions.
4. Optimise Processes & Efficiency – Develop scalable, reusable data models and frameworks while managing workflows via Jira.
5. Lead Strategic Growth – Work closely with leadership to scale the team and refine data engineering strategies.
What You Bring
We're looking for a hands-on leader with:
1. Expertise in SQL – Performance optimisation, indexing, stored procedures, and database administration.
2. Programming Skills – Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
3. Data Architecture Experience – Designing scalable data pipelines, automation, and orchestration.
4. Integration & API Knowledge – Strong background in RESTful APIs and working with semi-structured data (JSON, Parquet, XML, YAML).
5. Proven Leadership – Experience in managing and developing data engineering teams.
Bonus Points for Experience in:
1. Cloud & Data Platforms (Snowflake, Power BI, Matillion, Fivetran, dbt)
2. Security & Governance (Row-level security, data masking, access controls)
3. Database Administration (Postgres, MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL)
