Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bank Sous Chef to join our Nursing Care Home Catering team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing our kitchen operations, ensuring that meal preparation runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is perfect for individuals who are looking for flexible shifts in a dynamic kitchen environment. (Enhanced DBS essential)
Duties
1. Plan and prepare meals in line with residents' dietary requirements, including allergies and cultural preferences
2. Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in accordance with health regulations
3. Monitor stock levels and manage kitchen supplies effectively
4. Collaborate with residents and staff to develop high-quality meals
5. Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and within budget
6. Work with the Head Chef and the Home Manager to ensure our residents' needs are continuously met
Candidate Profile
1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef, preferably within a care home or similar environment
2. Strong understanding of IDDSI, special diets and food safety standards
3. Ability to create varied and balanced menus that cater to individual dietary needs
4. Excellent organisational and teamwork skills
5. Passionate about delivering high-quality food and enhancing the dining experience for residents
6. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with our residents, families, visitors and colleagues
Health & Safety Experience
1. Must have experience in catering or service industry and have knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations.
2. Must be well presented with high standards of personal hygiene. No jewellery or nail polish to be worn.
3. All catering staff must have undergone pre-employment health screening.
4. Understand the Health and Safety policy, emergency and fire procedures.
5. Must hold Level Three Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate.
Job Type: Casual contract
Pay: £13.50 per hour
Schedule: 12-hour shift (weekends); 8-hour shift (morning or evening)
