6 Month Fixed-term Contract

We are looking for experienced cross-functional collaborators to thrive in Agile ways of working to ensure we are continuously improving our platforms - with data as the number one asset.
In this role, as a Data Engineer, you will work within the Data Analytics & Insight team. The key focus of this team is to produce data analysis and business insights in line with the Society’s data strategy.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Northampton, Swindon, or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
What you’ll be doing
Based on the considerable experience and skillset you bring as a data engineer; you will join a multi skilled team working on a varied set of data domains in the society. You will be reporting to the Lead Data Engineer, collaborating with other engineers, testers, data domain experts and product owners. You will contribute to a team who strive to continually deliver the right business value and ensure that the flow of work is optimised.
Day-to-day you’ll be within a team working on solutions for data ingestion, data modelling, data processing, using a range of best in breed technologies.
This role will offer lots of exciting opportunities to continue developing in data engineering, DevOps and cloud technologies. We would expect you to have the desire and drive to learn, bring new thinking, ideas and continuous improvement to the team.

You will have accountability and responsibility for the design, development, and implementation of solutions, and will help the team deliver against our data strategy. Throughout the delivery life cycle, we would expect you to be able to make decisions that reflect best practice and have the best outcome for the society.
About you
As a minimum requirement you’ll have:
1. Excellent experience of working on data platforms like Teradata, Azure
2. Working knowledge and experience of key DevOps concepts, tools and languages
3. Experience of working in an agile delivery model
4. Excellent communication skills for team and stakeholder engagements
5. Growth / resilient mindset, a thirst for knowledge, the ability to take on new challenges, and overcome knowledge gaps through upskilling
6. Experience of working with highly regulated and sensitive data
